The completed project allows Capital University to operate with fully functional elevators with upgraded finishes and access control. In addition, their renovated machine rooms allow for more efficient maintenance of the new systems. The updated, modernized elevators included increased access control.
This major elevator modernization took place in a high-profile public building that remained in full operation for the full duration of the 18-month, on-site construction time. Our team took special care to emphasize both the high-security level in the building as well as the importance of protection of all existing finishes.
The modernization and upgrading of two patient/staff elevators in the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center University Hospital East, took planning and precision as they are in the path of critical care within the hospital. It was imperative that the modernization project focused on the improvement of patient care along this path.
The installation of the Destination Dispatch system allows for the overall increased efficiency of the elevators and also coordinates with the building’s new security system. This allows the Owner to adjust the levels of security they would like to implement on specific cars in real-time.
Many of the existing systems and elevator cabs in this project are original to the buildings. The modernization upgrades out-of-date systems to provide much more reliable vertical transportation service to the building occupants.
The design team is coordinated with The Ohio State University for the many logistical requirements within each building to minimize the impact to the building occupants during construction. This project included the upgrade, replacement, and modernization of elevator systems at various campus buildings located on OSU’s Main Campus.
The A/E team assessed 11 existing elevators in 7 separate buildings including a detailed review of the existing elevator components and related architectural, MEP, and structural components. The team used this information to provide recommendations on the priority of the elevators to be included in the construction project.
Wellogy was responsible for the comprehensive facility evaluation of buildings on the Ohio Expositions Campus. The evaluation became the platform for future capital funding requests. Upon completing the facility assessment, improvements to 11 of the facilities were completed, including roof and masonry repairs, structural upgrades, and limited mechanical systems upgrades. Also, fencing and the main gate to the south were replaced. All improvements were completed within budget put forth by the Ohio Exposition Commission, and conducted without interrupting any of the scheduled events.
